Tamar Robotics’ innovative technology is based on research conducted in the Medical Robotic Laboratory of Prof. Moshe Shoham at the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, the same lab that gave birth to other groundbreaking robotic companies such as Mazor Robotics (acquired by Medtronic for $1.6B) and XACT Robotics.

In 2013, Prof. Shoham and Dr. Hadas Ziso joined forces to explore new techniques to enable a robotic system to efficiently remove tumors and hemorrhage from the brain while minimizing the damage to healthy brain tissue.

Working in close collaboration with the Rambam Health Care Campus enabled the Technion team to triumph over 11 other international teams vying for top nods at the 2016 Surgical Robotic Challenge in London, UK, with its robot for minimally invasive neurosurgery.
